Did you ever stop to think that what your thoughts might impact on your health and wellness? If you have never considered the possibility you might reconsider after reading this article.

Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991. As you are well aware, illness and disease can affect anyone in any station of life. Actors and actresses are not exempt from being diagnosed with incurable diseases, but often how they address the problems associated with the illnesses can be a real eye opener.

Michael played Alex P Keaton on Family Ties and later went on to star in the Back to The Future films as well as other films including the blockbuster The American President. Most of the roles were undertaken after Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Fox believed that he could continue to make movies without his fans knowing about his illness and even under went brain surgery in hopes to offset the affects of the disease.

It wasn’t until 1998 that Fox admitted to his public that he was suffering from this neurological disorder. He has been an advocate for Parkinson’s and continues to believe that a cure will be found soon.

Through all of the pain and uncertainty, Fox keeps positive about the things that he could still accomplish instead of dwelling on the things that were becoming more impossible for him to do. Fox has been able to fight this disease and remain well despite needing brain surgery and extensive drug therapy, and the medicine that is keeping him going through all of the pain is positive thought. Living for the moment, enjoying watching his children grow up and spending time with his wife Tracy Pollan.

Don’t focus on the negative, too much energy can be spent on trying to determine what you would do if something happened in the future. Be present in the moment and live life the to the fullest. If Fox continues to keep the positive nature, I believe that he will be able to prevent the Parkinson’s from progressing too fast.
