The use of herbs for healing is emerging at an alarming rate. Herbs have been used for the purposes of healing, for thousands of years. It is only within the second part of the 20th Century that the general public has started to recognise the wealth of health associated with herbal remedies and preparations. With the increase in herbal popularity came an increase in the number of companies providing the herbal supplements. Each company has its own formulation and carries its own line, for which they have extensive marketing programs. Thanks in part to the media, there has been increasing knowledge regarding the use of herbs and the benefits and risks associated with supplements. The ability for members of the public to easily access this information has resulted in an even bigger growth of people using natural remedies. There is, however, a downside to the rapid growth of this industry. There are so many herbal preparations and companies that individuals have a difficult decision to make in terms of what herbs they will utilise and which company will be their supplier. The purpose of this article is not to sway you towards using a specific herb provider, on the contrary it is asking you to do some research before you begin taking herbal remedies and supplements. |

First, if possible, consult an herbalist who will be able to identify potential areas in need of protection or healing and what herbs may be of assistance to meeting your goal. If it is not possible for you to talk to an herbalist, talk to your medical doctor or go to the library and do some solid research on the herbs you thought about taking. The Internet is also a wealth of information, be careful as you may become overwhelmed at the sheer volume of returns when you do a search on herbs. The second step is to determine which company will be the provider for your herbal needs. Is it important to have one standard supplier? Well, it is truly up to the individual, but if you are going to be on an extended treatment you will want to make sure that you are using herbal supplements from one individual company. The reason I suggest sticking to one provider is that the product will remain the same from one bottle to the next. If you switch providers in the middle of your treatment, and there is a difference in the formulation, you may find that your progress is set backwards. This is not to suggest that any of the supplements are inferior, more to the point it speaks a possible difference in ingredients and amounts of each ingredient. The third step is to remember that herbs are wonderful remedies and provide preventative measures against illness, but like any other treatment plan it is important that it is evaluated on a regular basis to determine if the program is still providing the best results for your health. |
