This is an overview of some of the different therapies available for today's health consumer. I will provide links to sites for you to explore therapies further should you desire to do so. There are so many different alternative therapies that it can often be overwhelming to the average person. How are you to determine what the best therapy is for your current situation?
This is not an easy question to answer, if you speak with chiropractors, they will tell you that their therapy will provide the most benefits for illnesses or health problems that you can’t equate with your spine. Nonetheless, it is possible that their treatments will work. The American Chiropractic Association or The Canadian Chiropratic Association |

If you speak with massage therapists, they are likely to tell you that how your muscles work in relation to your body can cause physical pain and discomfort. They won’t try to pin the cause of an illness on the way your muscle is sitting. A different approach from chiropractic, but still working with the concept that the body’s structure impacts on health or is impacted on by health problems. For more information try Massage.ca or Canadian Sport Massage Therapists Association or International Association of Infant Massage-US Chapter Cranio-sacral therapy provides adjustment of the energy centres within the body, to release painful areas. Acupuncture, acupressure, and reflexology
make use of pressure points that have affects on other parts of the body.
These therapies can be very good, but if you are afraid of needles try
to go with acupressure instead. Both therapies are beneficial in their
own right. Acupuncture Canada or
Chinese
Herbal Therapy & Acupuncture Physiotherapy provides yet another venue to work with the physical health aspects often impeding normal function and activity, which in the long run can impact greatly on mental and emotional health as well. Physiotherapy requires retraining of the body’s movements to provide a more balanced use of the body’s resources. There are many other therapies that I have not even touched on yet, but in future articles I will examine these individuals topics in depth. In the meantime, if you are considering starting any of the therapies listed above, please consult your doctor. Make sure you know how your medical doctor feels about the different types of therapies. Chances are that they will have recommendations of a practitioner that they believe would help you. In addition, you have to be ready to investigate the process. Ask yourself how long you will need to receive treatments and how costly will the treatments be in terms of time and money. Treat your health as a priority and you will benefit immensely. |
